  1.                         Drag And Zip version 2.10

  3.     You have received a copy of Drag And Zip version 2.10.  Features new to
  4.     version 2 that are not mentioned in the manual are:
  5.  
  6.         Explicit support for PKZIP version 2
  7.         Improved file viewer with font selection and optional word wrap.
  8.         Common dialog boxes for easy selection of directories when
  9.         Zipping and unZipping
  10.         Easy check boxes and radio buttons for selecting Zip/unZip options
  11.         Drag And Zip's Zip file viewer, Zip View, now has drag and drop
  12.         support so that files can be dragged to it for viewing.  This is
  13.         particularly useful for viewing self-extracting Zip files that you
  14.         can't double click on.

  16.     PKZIP version 2 menu option
  17.     You will find a new menu option in the "Settings" menu of Zip View and
  18.     the system menu of Drag And Zip.  This option says "PKZIP version 2".
  19.     There will be a check next to this option if your copy of Drag And Zip
  20.     is set up for PKZIP version 2.  You can click on this option to check or
  21.     uncheck it, and turn on and off the version 2 support.

  23.     PKZIP Location menu option
  24.     If you want to change the location of PKZIP on your computer, you need
  25.     to let Drag And Zip know where it is.  You can do that in Zip View by
  26.     choosing the "PKZIP Location" menu option from the "Settings menu".  You
  27.     will find the same option in Drag And Zip's system menu.  You need to
  28.     change it in only one program, Drag And Zip or Zip View.  It is not
  29.     enough to edit your DZ.INI file to show the new location of PKZIP
  30.     because the PIF files need to be modified also.

  32.                         PKZIP version 2 Support

  34.     During installation, Drag And Zip will try to determine if the copy of
  35.     PKZIP that you have is version 2.  If  Drag And Zip thinks that it is,
  36.     it will prompt you with a dialog box to confirm it.  Then when you run
  37.     Drag And Zip, the dialog boxes presented to you when Zipping and
  38.     unZipping will show options particular to PKZIP version 2.

  40.     The current version of PKZIP is 2.04e.  PKWARE has made every effort to
  41.     make it run well under Windows.  However, if problems occur, they have
  42.     provided a number trouble shooting options that can be turned off or on.
  43.     These options are:

  45.         Turn off usage of DPMI
  46.         Turn off usage of 80386 instructions
  47.         Turn off usage of EMS or XMS
  48.         Turn off network detection
  49.         Use a slower method of memory copy
  50.  
  51.     To make your initial use of Drag And Zip trouble free with PKZIP version
  52.     2, these options are automatically turned off when Drag And Zip is
  53.     installed.

  55.                         Other New Features
  56.  
  57.     I've tried very hard to make this new version very easy to use, but
  58.     still retain the flexibility of earlier versions.  I've provided easy
  59.     check boxes and combo boxes for choosing common PKZIP/PKUNZIP
  60.     configurations. However, I've retained the "Command line arguments"
  61.     field in the Zip and UnZip dialogs to allow you to enter any combination
  62.     that you please.  The Zip and UnZip dialogs look pretty much the same,
  63.     however, they now contain a "Browse Arguments" button next to the
  64.     "Command line arguments" field.  Clicking on this button, will pop up a
  65.     second dialog box where there are Combo Boxes for choosing compression
  66.     options and Zipping to multiple disks (a PKZIP version 2 option), and
  67.     check boxes for other popular arguments.  For those of you running PKZIP
  68.     version 2, there are  check boxes to turn on and off all of PKZIP's
  69.     "trouble shooting" options.  These options are turned off by default.
  70.     Besides the OK and Cancel buttons, there is a "Save As Default" button
  71.     that will save the options for future sessions of Drag And Zip.  If you
  72.     choose OK from the "Browse Arguments" dialog, the options that you have
  73.     chosen will appear in the "Command line arguments" field in the
  74.     Zip/UnZip dialog.  At any time, you can modify what's in that field.
  75.     Whatever arguments are in that field when you click on OK will be the
  76.     ones given to PKZIP and PKUNZIP.
